Boiler RoomLive music events broadcaster Boiler Room, the self-styled MTV 2.0, is developing the world’s first venue dedicated to streaming performance music in high-quality virtual reality. Boiler Room is partnering with 360 and VR entertainment firm Inception for the venture, with the latter’s new London location providing a space for any artist, visual artist or other creator to build VR experiences for broadcast. The Born for VR venue will open for use in early 2017 with Boiler Room content available for streaming via Inception apps.

Boiler Room says it will be able to create an interactive world on the Inception platform which builds on the experience of being at a Boiler Room show in the flesh.

“We’ve always been driven by using technology to showcase the music we care about and give fans all around the world an authentic experience of the events and scenes they can’t be part of in person,” says Blaise Bellville, CEO of Boiler Room. “Building the first ever music venue born for VR is a big evolution of that, creating immersive online experiences that bring people even closer to what it’s like being at a sweaty rave or an amazing concert half-way across the world.”
